11 Starting and running a program
DANGER
Should the sterilizer remain unused for more than three hours
and cool down, a renewed sterilization check is recommended.
Perform the Vacuum & Empty and Bowie & Dick test programs.
♦
Check to see that the sealing surface on the door (1) and the door seal
(7) are clean.
♦
Close the door (1) until it touches the sterilizing chamber (9).
♦
Press the green START/STOP key (20).
The door is locked automatically (door indicator, 21). If the door cannot be locked,
the “Lock open” error message is displayed (see Chapter 14). Once the door is
locked, the sterilizing program starts.
If the timer is set and active, the indicator in the Timer key (24) will be lit. The
program cycle starts when the time set on the timer is reached.
The sterilizing chamber (9) is automatically evacuated and heated. The various
phases of the program are shown in the Sterilization phase display (25) during
execution. While the heater heats, the
▲
symbol is shown next to the chamber
temperature in the Current values display (15).
The actual sterilizing time will start once the sterilizing temperature has been
reached. The progress of the sterilizing time is indicated in the Current values
display by the
▼
symbol next to the sterilizing time: The sterilizing time counts
down to zero in one-minute increments.
When the sterilizing time has come to an end, the sterilizing chamber (9) is
automatically cooled down through controlled release of steam.
By pressing the START/STOP key (20), you can interrupt the progam cycle at any
time. The sterilizer always returns to a safe state before unlocking the door.
If the program is followed by a drying phase, the Current values display (15) shows
the drying time and the
▼
symbol. The drying time counts down to zero.
