Precautions Before Installation
It is the userʼs responsibility to assure that an adequate
water analysis has been performed to determine feedwa-
ter composition and pretreatment requirements before
operation of the ULTROpure. This is a condition of your
One Year Limited Warranty (see back cover). Operation
of the ULTROpure without prior determination of the
feedwater composition can destroy reverse osmosis
membranes.
We provide a free water analysis service called H20
Select and will make pretreatment recommendations
where necessary. If you did not have a water analysis
performed before the purchase of this equipment, you
will find a sampling kit with the ULTROpure. Follow the
instructions included with the kit and return the sample to
us.
Depending on the membrane selected for use in your
ULTROpure, certain conditions (refer to the Equipment
Specifications section on page 17.) must be established
and maintained before and during operation. The user
should pay particular attention to the requirements for
residual chlorine and pH specifications. In some installa-
tions, pH adjustment is required to prevent hard scale
formation on the membrane surface, or membrane hy-
drolysis. In these cases, the adjusted pH should be 6.25.
Routine use of the ULTROpure requires weekly monitor-
ing of pH and/or residual chlorine levels. This is due to
seasonal variations in water supplies and changes in
processing by local municipalities which can affect these
levels.
Residual chlorine and pH can be easily measured by
using inexpensive kits available from your laboratory
supply dealer. An Operating Record Log Sheet is provid-
ed on page 31 of this manual for recording these mea-
surements.
You should make additional copies of the log
sheet for future use before entering any information.
