C.4.2.5 Cache Extended Memory
If enabled, this feature will allow the data stored in the extended memory area to be
cached (written) into a buffer, a storage area in the Static DROM (SDROM) or writ-
ten into L1, L2, L3 cache inside the CPU to speed up CPU operations.
Select “Uncached” to disable this function. Select “Write Through” to allow data to
be cached into the buffer and written into the system memory at the same time.
Select “Write Protect” to prevent data from being written into the base memory area
of Block 0-512K. Select “Write Back” to allow CPU to write data back directly from
the buffer without writing data to the System Memory for fast CPU data processing
and operation. The options are Uncached, Write Through, Write Protect, and
Write
Back .
C.4.2.6 Discrete MTRR Allocation
If enabled, MTRRs (-Memory Type Range Registers) are configured as distinct, sep-
arate units and cannot be overlapped. If enabled, the user can achieve better graphic
effects when using a Linux graphic driver that requires the write-combining configu-
ration with 4GB or more memory. The options are Enabled and
Disabled .
C.4.3 X PCI Configuration
Access the submenu to make changes to the following settings for PCI devices.
C.4.3.1 Onboard GLAN1/Onboard GLAN2 (Gigabit-LAN) OPROM Config-
ure
Enabling this option provides the capability to boot from GLAN. The options are
Disabled and Enabled.
C.4.3.2 Onboard SCSI OPROM Configure
Enabling this option provides the capitally to boot from SCSI HDD. The options are
Disabled and
Enabled .
C.4.3.3 PCI Parity Error Forwarding
The feature allows SERR and PERR errors detected in PCI slots to be sent (for-
warded) to the BIOS DMI Event Log for the user to review. The options are Enabled
and
Disabled .
