Installation Procedures

2.1.3.2 Disk-Drive Removal

To remove a hard-disk drive,

Make sure the system is powered off (see “Operation” on page 2-19).

Locate the drive to be removed (see

Figure 2-5

Place a finger into the latch lock and push to the right; this causes the drive
latch handle to spring forward (see

) from the front surface of the drive.

Carefully pull the latch handle (see

) until the drive has cleared the chassis.

The drive will automatically disconnect from its backplane connector when
pulled forward.

Caution:

When pulling the hard-disk drive from the chassis, hold it at the

bottom to prevent it from falling and damaging the drive.
