Appendix A. Supported Speaker Configuration Types 

Supported speaker configurations types are described in this section. 

The speaker membrane area Sd of a circular speaker is obtained by measuring the diaphragm 
diameter with a metric ruler from center point to center point of the surround, as shown below. 
Diaphragm area for other speaker shapes, such as ‘racetrack’ speakers, can be calculated by 
either approximating the speaker as a square or by adding the area of the half-ellipses at both 
ends plus the area of the square in the center.
