Check the TCP/IP connection
The command “ping” is used to test the TCP/IP connection with another device in the
same LAN, both for cabled and wireless connections.
To be able do this it is necessary to know the IP address of the device that you wish to
connect to.
To give the “ping” command, take the following steps:
Select:
Windows 98/ME: Start -> Programs -> MS-DOS. The MS-DOS window will open.
Windows 2000/XP: Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> command prompt. The
command prompt window will open.
In this new window key in the command “ping xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx”, xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx being
the IP address of the device to which you want to connect to.
For example, to check the connection with your Base Unit and using the default IP
address, we key in: “ping 192.168.5.100”
And to check the connection with the Wireless Modem/Router, using its default IP
address, we key in: “ping 192.168.1.1”
If the connection is correct, in very few seconds 4 messages appear with an answer
from the address called:

This command may differ in different versions of Window.
Key in ipconfig /? To see the options that corresponds with the operating system of
your PC.
