If you wish to install a wireless network over a large area, you may need more than one
Base Unit.
2.2. - TYPES OF WIRELESS NETWORKS
There are various ways of configuring a wireless network:
•
Point to Point: Also know as “Peer-to-Peer” or “Ad-Hoc”. This communicates
two wireless devices with each other, without using any central point (Base
Unit).
•
Infrastructure: This mode requires the use of a central wireless network point
and allows the wireless network to interconnect with a cabled network.
Below you will find some examples and configurations of wireless networks.
Infrastructure configuration
Under this configuration you can use one or more Base Units as signal repeaters to
give a greater coverage for larger areas or as a go-between for a wireless network and
Ethernet based networks.
The example below is of a Base Unit being used as a signal repeater:
