IP configuration for Windows 98
(The IP configuration screen does not appear in the network monitor)
Cause: Windows 98 does not support the automatic IP address configuration via the
“Monitor de red Inalámbrica” application, It is always necessary configure manually.
Solution: To configure the IP parameters manually, please use the following steps:
Say that we have a Modem/Router with the following network:
-
IP Address: 172.26.0.1
-
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.240
And we want to configure our PC to have Internet access via this Modem/Router.
The IP addresses that we can assign to our PCs are 172.26.0.2 to 172.26.0.14 and the
subnet mask will be the same in all of them and for the router: 255.255.255.240
To way to configure the addresses in your PCs that work under Windows 98 is the
following:
-
Go to the “Control Panel” (Start-> Settings -> Control Panel).
-
Select “Network”.
