Operating Basics
This section discusses technical issues you should consider when
using the P6205 probe.
Ground Lead Inductance
When you touch the probe tip to a circuit element you are introduc-
ing a new resistance, capacitance, and inductance into the circuit.
See Figure 2–1.

The high input resistance of the P6205 probe has negligible effect on
most circuits. The series inductance introduced by the probe tip and
ground lead however, can result in a parasitic resonant circuit that
“rings” within the bandwidth of your oscilloscope system. Fig-
ure 2–2 shows examples of how different ground leads affect a
displayed signal.
