Prerequisites
The tests in this section comprise an extensive, valid confirmation of perfor-
mance and functionality when the following requirements are met:

The instrument must have been last calibrated and adjusted at an ambient
temperature b20

C, must have been operating for a
warm-up period of at least 30 minutes, and must be operating in an
environment with temperature, altitude, humidity, and vibration within the
operating limits described in Environmental characteristics on page 21.

The test equipment (oscilloscope, pattern generator, tunable laser and optical
meters), must be operating for a warm-up period of at least 30 minutes.
Equipment Required
Table 11 lists the equipment required to perform the performance verification
procedure. The types and quantities of connectors may vary depending on the
specific equipment you use.
CAUTION. To prevent damage to your equipment and cables, use the proper type
optical connectors. The optical connection styles shown in the test setups are
correct for the equipment called out in Table 11 below. If you use alternative
equipment, verify the connection style of the alternative equipment, and use the
appropriate cable or adapter.
