Appendix D: Connecting SCSI Hard Disk(s)

This section provides instructions for connecting SCSI hard disk(s) to the
MTX100 and for setting up Windows 2000 to use the SCSI hard disk(s).

Connecting Procedure

Perform the following procedure to connect a SCSI hard disk(s) to the MTX100:

1. Power off the MTX100.

2. Connect the SCSI connector (see Figure 2-2 on page 2-4) on the MTX100

rear panel and the connector on the hard disk using a SCSI cable.

3. Install a SCSI terminator to an unused connector on the hard disk. When two

or more hard disks are connected in a daisy chain, the terminator must be
installed in the last hard disk. You do not need to do this for a hard disk with
an auto termination feature. Refer to the documentation provided with the
hard disk for more information.

4. Power on the hard disk(s), then power on the MTX100.

Setting Procedure

This subsection describes how to set up Windows 2000 to use the hard disk(s)
connected to the MTX100. The information is divided into the following two
subsections:

For One Hard Disk

For Two or More Hard Disks

Perform the following procedure to set up Windows 2000 when one hard disk is
connected to the MTX100. This procedure assumes the hard disk is not
formatted.

1. Connect the keyboard and mouse provided with the instrument to the USB

connectors on the front panel.

2. Close the Play screen (or Record screen) to display the Windows desktop.

3. Right-click the My Computer icon, then select Manage in the open menu.

The Computer Management window appears as shown in 
Figure D-1.
