Installation (Continued)
side will make this easier) for
seating the pitless adapter in the
well casing. When adapter is
seated, remove second extension
and 90° handle (if used). Leave
dummy extension pipe in the
pitless adapter to make later
servicing easier. Install cap and
conduit.
e. When pump is at desired depth,
install throttle valve for
preliminary test run. Wire 3-wire
pump through the control box,
following instructions in box
regarding color coding of wires,
etc. Wire 2-wire pump direct to
the pressure switch. Test cable for
continuity with ohmmeter.
Risk of electrical
shock. Since most
submersible pump problems are electrical,
all electrical work must be done properly.
Therefore, have all electrical hookup work
or electrical service work done by a
qualified electrician or serviceman only!
With pump discharge partly open, run
pump until water is clear of sand or any
other impurities. Gradually open
discharge.
IMPORTANT:
Be sure you do not stop
pump before water runs clear. This may
take several hours. If pump stops with
sand in it, it will lock.
If pump lowers water in the well far
enough to lose prime, either lower
pump in the well (if possible) or throttle
discharge to capacity of the well.
f. If well is low capacity, use a low
water level control.
g. In the line to the tank, install
required components as shown in
Figure 9, Page 7, depending on
tank type used.
Use ONLY
submersible cable
to pump.
7. Two-wire pump hookup: Wire the
fused electrical disconnect box to
water system pressure switch and
from pressure switch to motor (See
Figures 15 and 16A). Power cable
wires are not color coded; ground
wire is green.
Risk of electrical
shock! To reduce
risk of electrical shock, adequately ground
motor to a grounded metal raceway
system with ground lead provided. Refer
to the most recent National Electrical
Code (NEC) Article 250 (Grounding) for
additional information. All wiring should
be done by a qualified electrician.
8.
Three-wire pump hookup:
Make
sure the color of the wire leads from
the motor attach to the same color
of the submersible drop cable. The
submersible wire drop cable colors
then indicate which control box
terminal they connect to:
R = Red
Y = Yellow
B = Black
G = Ground
