4.6 Obstruction test
Enable the obstruction test inside the "Configuration and options" menu (see par. 6.4).
The obstruction test function makes it possible for the operator to check, during the settling
phase, whether secondary parts of the piece being tested are obstructed.
After a START command, at the end of the filling phase, (that is to say during the settling
phase), the operator can open the closing plug of a secondary part of the tested line and
check the sudden pressure decay that takes place if the line is not obstructed: After re-
closing the plug, the leak test restarts automatically from the filling phase.
The normal procedure to carry out the obstruction test is the following one:
1. Prepare the piece to be tested;
2. After a START command, the test starts with the filling phase, followed by the settling one;
3. Before the end of the settling phase, open the plug that closes the part that you wish to
test;
4. If the part is not obstructed, a sudden pressure decay takes place and is signalled by the
sound of the buzzer for 1 second. The test restarts from the filling phase (start of time T1);
5. Re-close the plug on the tested part;
6. At the end of the filling phase, the obstruction test can be repeated on another
deviation or the test can go on like a normal leak test.
If during the obstruction test with opened plug the pressure decay is not sudden, this decay
can be considered like a settling and does not cause any signalling: the test is carried out
like a normal leak test.
NOTE : The obstruction test can be only applied with higher test pressure
of approx. 200 mbar.
