Replacing the Engine
A.
Removal
(1)
Turn off all electrical switches in the cockpit, then
disconnect the battery ground wire at the battery.
(2)
Move fuel selector lever to OFF position.
(3)
Remove engine cowling by releasing cowling
fasteners or attachment screws. Refer to original
Aircraft Maintenance Manual.
(4)
Remove propeller. Refer to manufacturer in-
structions.
(5)
Drain the operating liquids. Refer to Operation
and Maintenance Manual OM-02-02.
(6)
Remove the muffler.
(7)
Disconnect all lines/hoses from the firewall (at
fuel filter, fuel pump, air box etc.).
(8)
Disconnect the engine harness from relayboard
and cockpit panel. Pull the harness through the
cable duct in the firewall.
(9)
Remove the oil and water cooler (TAE
125-02-99) (refer to Chapter 71, Section 71.40,
Maintenance Practices). Remove the oil and wa-
ter cooler mount (5 mounting points).
(10) Remove the watercooler (TAE 125-02-114) (re-
fer to Chapter 71, Section 71.40, Maintenance
Practices). Remove the water cooler mount (5
mounting points)
(11) Remove the intercooler (refer to Chapter 71,
Section 71.40, Maintenance Practices). Remove
the intercooler mount.
(12) Mount suitable lifting equipment to the engine
and relieve tension from the mounts.
(13) Check engine for any attachments remaining to
obstruct removal.
(14) Remove the three engine mount assemblies and
swing engine free, being careful not to damage
any attaching parts.
Note:
Place a tail stand under aircraft tail before removing the engine.
