This chapter contains general information assuring safe opera-
tion of the instrument. More safety instructions are given
throughout this Guide, at the respective locations where obser-
vation is most important.
Strictly follow all safety instructions in this publication.
Introduction
TECAN
products are designed to operate safely when installed
and used according to good laboratory practice guidelines. The
instructions included in this section explain the potential risks
associated with instrument operation and provide important
safety practices designed to minimize these risks.
If you carefully follow the information contained in this section,
you can protect yourself from hazards and create a safer work
environment.
Definition
Operator:
Qualified person who uses the
equipment for its intended purpose.
Field Service Engineer: Authorized person responsible for
installation, initial start up of the in-
strument and Operator’s training on-
site.
Person to carry out service tasks.
Target Group
The

has been conceived for applications in the
clinical diagnostic market, requiring qualified and authorized
laboratory personnel.
Instrument operation requires thorough knowledge of applica-
tions, instrument functions and software programs as well as all
applicable safety rules and regulations.
Qualification, Training
To be qualified for instrument operation, you must read and un-
derstand the written instructions in the operating manual (p/n
391 400), have appropriate training (by
TECAN
Field Service
Engineer), and know the safety rules and regulations.
Unintended Use
The

is not recommended for repetitive serial dilu-
tions. Accuracy and reproducibility are NOT sufficient for this
purpose.
