Troubleshooting
Remote control does not work.
e
Remote control not pointed toward the DVD
Recorder.
Point the remote control at the machine.
e
Batteries are flat. Change the batteries.
No playback on DVD Recorder.
e
There is no recording on the disc. Change disc.
e
You inserted the wrong disc type.
Your recorder can play back the following disc
types
e
You inserted the disc wrong way.
Insert the disc with the label facing upwards.
e
Disc is dirty. Clean the disc.
e
Wrong region code. The region code of the DVD
and the DVD Recorder must match.
e
Parental control is on read chapter 'Setting a
Rating Level'
e
You have selected the wrong program number of
the DVD Recorder on the TV.
On the TV select the correct program number for
the DVD Recorder
e
The cable connecting the TV set and the DVD
Recorder has come loose check the cable.
Poor playback on DVD Recorder (distorted picture, dis-
torted sound)
e
Your TV set is not properly adjusted.
e
Disc is dirty. Clean the disc.
e
Sometimes the picture may be temporarily distort-
ed.
This is not defect of your DVD Recorder
No recording possible
e
TV channel you want record is not stored or
selected the wrong program number. Check TV
channels stored.
e
Disc write-protected (recording protected).
write-protection or change the disc.
e
Check up function of DVD Recorder.
No power
e
Check the connection to the AC wall outlet. Make
sure the outlet is not switched by a lamp switch by
plugging in another electrical device to see if the
outlet is “live”.

The operation is not permitted by the disc or the unit.
e
Note that during playback of a title part (cautions,
software maker's logo, etc.), most operations are
prohibited by the disc.
e
If another operation is still in process, wait a
moment and try again.
The aspect ratio of the screen cannot be changed.
e
The aspect ratio might be fixed by the disc.
e
Depending on the TV, you may not be able to
change the aspect ratio.
There is no sound or only a very low-level sound is
heard.
e
Check that the speakers and components are con-
nected securely.
e
Check the operation of the connected component.
e
Check the audio output setting.
e
The sound is muted during pause, slow-motion,
fast forward/reverse, and stepping playback.
Press the PLAY button to resume normal playback.
Resetting the machine to the default factory settings.
e
Important:
All the information stored(TV channels, time and
date, TIMER) will be lost.
e
Connect from the main power supply.
Press the SYSTEM INITIAL on the remote control
to the default factory settings.
Reset initial installation.
