5.4.2 Restoring a slice from a Physical tape
To restore a slice that no longer is present on the BakStor unit choose Backup Menu ->
Restore Menu -> Check tape contents
This shows the name of the slice located on the physical tape. A link labeled “restore this slice”
will be available. This restore process will generate a slice with the name of the slice on tape
and restore the data to this slice.
Note:
There are some restrictions on restoring data from a physical tape:
1. When restoring a slice from a physical tape the original slice or a slice with the same name must
not be present. The presence of a slice with the same name as the slice on the tape will cause the
restore process to fail
2. There must be sufficient space on the BakStor to allow the slice to be created.
