USER GUIDE 

the ‘Change adapter settings’ at left, identifying 
which adapter is being used if you have more than 
one, right clicking on the adapter and selecting 
‘Disable’, then right clicking again and selecting 
‘Enable’.

On a mobile device that is connecting over wireless, 
simply turning the wireless off and back on again 
should work. 

•

 

On a MacBook or other OS X computer open the 
System Preferences and select Network.

If you’re using a wired connection, select 
‘Ethernet’ and click the ‘Advanced…’ button.  
Then click the ‘Renew DHCP Lease’ button. 

ii.

 

If you’re using wireless then you can turn it off 
and on again.

Finally, you can just wait for up to 30 minutes after which 
time your problematic computer or device should have 
registered itself with ParentBox. 

Adding ParentBox to a more complex 
home network 

There are many different ways in which you can organise your 
home network.   The more knowledgeable may build themselves 
mini replicas of commercial networks with firewalls, demilitarised 
zones, port forwarding and so on.  ParentBox can be integrated 
into such sophisticated networks, although the user will likely have 
to deploy the ‘advanced controls’ (
