Oil - cutterbar
The easiest daily oil check can be carried out on an area known to be level. This means that it
would only then be necessary to check once that the cutterbar is actually level each time in the way
shown in photo No. 2 and 3.
The following operations must be carried out in a safe and secure way. During all
work near the machine's cutting discs the tractor engine must be stopped and the
P.T.O. shaft disconnected.
Do as follows:
•
Drive the machine to an area of level ground. Raise the machine and place a wooden block

(about 240 mm high) under the cutterbar. Lower the machine onto the block as shown on ill. 1
(with high cut skids, block height should be approx. 200 mm).

Check the position of the cutterbar with a spirit level as shown in

. The bar must be quite
level in this direction. If necessary correct the position of the block to the right or left side.
•
Check also that the cutterbar is fairly level in the driving direction, shown at
C
. If the spirit
level indicator is in extreme position (max. +/÷ 1,5
o
) the position of the cutterbar must be
adjusted, for instance by changing the height of the drawbar.
•
Remove the oil filler plug

. It is situated between the second and third disc on the machine's
left hand side. Wait for 3 minutes (if the oil is cold: Wait for 15 minutes) and check the oil level
using a steel tape measure as shown in

. Amount of oil from minimum to maximum is about
1 litre which equals 3 mm difference in depth.

Type of oil
: Order No. for 5 litres of oil: 99.417.575.
Model 4024 = 3.5 litres and for following oil change approx. 3.1 litres.
Amount of oil : Models 4028 - 4028 C = 4.0 litres and for following oil change approx. 3.6 litres.
Models 4032 - 4032 C = 4.5 litres and for following oil change approx. 4.1 litres.
Models 4036 - 4036 C = 5.0 litres and for following oil change approx. 4.6 litres.
Change of oil : First time after about 10 hours operation and thereafter every 200 hours of
operation, or at least once a year. The drain plug for oil is situated on the left
hand side of the cutterbar.
The amount of oil must never exceed the maximum stated. Otherwise the oil will be
overheated and damage the bearings in the cutterbar.

This transmission rotates at high speed - about 3000 r.p.m. Therefore, it is important
to use the correct type of oil. Otherwise overheating will occur and damage the
transmission. Such damage will invalidate the factory warranty.
At the rear of this manual page 77 "lubricants" are shown. Only use types of oil
marked
H
for transmissions with high r.p.m. Correct type of oil can be ordered, -
see order number above.
