6 Synthes Universal Battery Charger Instructions for Use
Putting the Universal charger into operation
Before using the charger, ensure that the mains switch is set
to position «0» (illustration, see page 5). Only use the mains
cable supplied with the charger to connect it to the mains.
Use the mains switch to switch on the charger. When the
charging bays are empty and the charger is ready for opera-
tion, this is indicated by all control indicators (red, yellow
and green) lighting up together.
Cleaning
Only clean the charger when it is not connected to the
mains. Wipe the Universal Battery Charger occasionally with
a dry cloth (do not use any solvents).
Charging the battery
Put the battery to be charged into a free charging bay the
right way round (see symbols to assist operation, page 4).
Only one battery at a time can be charged in each charging
bay. However, all charging bays can be used simultaneously.
Following automatic recognition of the battery type and
state, the charging process is started (yellow indicator lights
up). As soon as the battery is completely charged, the
charger switches over to maintenance charging (green in di-
cator lights up). The battery can be removed from the charg-
ing bay at any time, but it is only fully charged when the
green indicator is lit.
Charging a new battery or one which has not been
used for a prolonged period of time
New batteries and batteries that have not been used for over
a month and have not been kept stored in the charger will
only reach maximum capacity again after 3 to 5 full charging
cycles.
Storage of batteries
After each use, remove the battery from the battery casing
and recharge it immediately. Never store used batteries with-
out charging them first. When the batteries are not being
used, always keep them in the charger, which must be left
switched on. Even when the batteries are fully charged
(green indicator lights up), the Synthes Universal Battery
Charger constantly monitors their state and tops up the
charge if necessary. This means that the batteries in the
charger are always ready for use and are stored optimally.
Only store batteries outside the charger if all charging bays
are occupied.
Do not use batteries that have not been taken directly from
the charger. Otherwise, the charging capac ity may not be
optimal.
