Arrival at Site
Note:
Check and observe site regulations.
POSITIONING THE MOTORHOME
Keep to roadways unless otherwise directed.
Adhere to speed limits. Note that these are
generally 10mph.
(Remember that the stopping distance
on grass is considerably greater than
on tarmac.)
Only a person in possession of a current
driving licence may drive on the site.
Selecting a pitch
Do not pitch in such a position that your
motorhome will obstruct others coming in.
Try to choose an area which is dry,
reasonably level and preferably with a hard
base.
If you have no alternative but to pitch on a
slope try to ensure that you are facing down
the slope, for when you leave.
Levelling the motorhome
Levelling must be carried out in both
directions for the refrigerator and other
equipment to function correctly. Stepped
levelling boards (Fig. B) or proprietary ramps
are ideal for this purpose.
Lower the rear corner steadies (if fitted) until
they are in firm contact with the ground
(Fig. A). DO NOT use the steadies as a jack,
they are only a means of stabilising the rear
of the motorhome. Levelling pads or boards
should be used under the steadies where the
ground is soft or uneven.
Awnings and Tents
Awnings and tents should only be used
when permission has been obtained. When
on grass and staying for more than a few
days the ground sheet and/or side flaps of
awnings should be periodically raised in
order to avoid damage to the ground.
