1st ring and 2nd ring

1. Apply engine oil to piston rings.
2. Install 2nd ring and 1st ring to piston.



Ring gap direction

Position rings so that their gaps are staggered at approximately
90 degree angles as shown.

PISTON TO CYLINDER

1. Apply engine oil to piston and cylinder walls.
2. Insert piston and conrod assembly into cylinder bore from

cylinder head side using the special tool.



• Install 2nd ring to piston with the “R” mark toward

the piston head side.

• Install 1st ring to piston with its original direction.

There is no I.D. mark on the standard size 1st ring.
