6-7 Installing and Removing Hard Drives
Accessing the Drive Bays
SATA Drives: You do not need to access the inside of the chassis or remove power
to replace or swap SATA drives. Each hard disk drive is in a separate carrier that
may be removed to access its hard drive. Proceed to the next step for instructions.
You must use standard 1" high, SATA drives in the system.
Caution: Except for short periods of time (swapping hard drives), do not operate
the server with the carriers abscent.
Removing Hard Drive Carriers from the Chassis (Figure 6-6)
1. Press the release button on the drive carrier. This extends the drive handle.
2. Use the handle to pull the drive out of the chassis.
