Chapter 1: Introduction

I/O Backplane

The SC812 is a 1U rackmount chassis.  Its I/O backplane supports one

standard PCI slot and includes one COM port (the other is internal), one

VGA port, two USB ports, PS/2 mouse and keyboard ports, two Ethernet

(LAN) ports and an external SCSI port.  (See Figure 1-1.)

Cooling System

The SC812 chassis' revolutionary cooling design has been optimized to pro-

vide sufficient cooling for dual Xeon configurations.  The SC812 includes

two heavy duty 10-cm blower fans located in the middle of the chassis.

These fans operate continuously at full rpm.  If they break down, the ambi-

ent air temperature inside the chassis will rise and activate an overheat

LED.
