9) Adjusting the needle and looper timing
A. Move the needle bar to the lowest position.
B. With the needle bar at the lowest position, use the calipers to measure the distance L between the tip of the needle bar and
the top of the needle bar guard.
C. With the needle
①
at the left needle position, turn the upper shaft until the tip of the looper(left)
②
is aligned with the
center of the needle. Use the calipers to measure distance as in B above in the repeated manner. And calculate the
differential compared with the value in B.
D. When the needle
①
is at the right needle position, calculate the differential compared with the value in C.
E. When adjustments are needed, loosen the fixing screws
③
,
④
for the driving fork clamp A and move the LS holder
bracket left and right to set the needle center to be in the
same distance from the ends of the left and right loopers
respectively.
F. If the ends of the left and right loopers are not in the same
distance from the needle center, loosen the looper cam
tightening screw
⑦
and turn the looper cam for adjustment.
[ Fig. 38 ]
[ CAUTION ]
•
The needle bar moves by 2.7mm.
•
When the needle
①
is at the left needle position, the end of the looper(left)
②
should be aligned with the center of the
needle
①
, and when the needle is at the right needle position, the end of the looper(right)
③
should be aligned with
the center of the needle
①
.
•
The distance L between the end of the needle bar and the top of the needle bar guard should be same between
when the needle
①
is at the left needle position and when the needle
①
is at the right position.
•
Since the tightening screw(a)(painted in yellow) for the needle bar guard is fixed after the needle bar origin setting,
avoid loosening it arbitrarily. If it is loosened, the needle bar origin setting is required.
