However, many customers have chosen to administer their systems remotely. If this occurs, then the security 
problem should be reframed as a general network security, administration, and integration issue.  The issue 
may also be framed as a trade off between being secure on a private network versus opening up to an open 
corporate or even the public internet, which increases security risks.

Therefore utilizing remote administration across open corporate networks or the public internet surfaces a new 
set of challenges in context of general network security, administration, and integration issues instead of a 
narrowly focused SVP issue.

Please ensure that encryption is turned on with respect to avoidance of having password being transmitted in 
the clear.  To address that issue, the Apache Server residing on the SVP should be  -installed with SSL enabled.

Disk Drives

The Primary rack can hold up to 120 disk drives. The second Expansion rack can contain up to 120 disk drive. 
With these two racks,  the ST 9985 V can contain a total of 240 disk drives.

73GB / 15Krpm disk drive 

146GB / 15Krpm disk drives

300 GB/ 15K disk drives 

Please note that the 146 GB 10K and the 300 GB 10K are not supported on the ST 9985 V.

Please note that HDDs from prior generations of sytems are not usable in the ST 9985V and the ST 9990  V. 
HDDs in the ST 9985 V and ST 9990 V may not be used in prior generations of systems.
