mat ic cut ting, en sures high sam ple
throughput.
A wide range of cutting applications
are available by choosing either
au to mat ic or manual cutting with
Discotom-50’s Automatic On /Off
function. From qual i ty de mand ing to
high through put cut ting jobs, from
very soft to very hard ma te ri als or
from small to large sam ples, Dis-
cotom-50 grants ex treme fl ex i bil i ty,
can be op er at ed quick ly, eas i ly and
at a min i mum cost.
Cut large and deep samples
Discotom-50 has a large cut ting
chamber and a mov a ble cutting
table. By mov ing the large table
instead of the wheel, Discotom-50
cuts larger and deeper sam ples, up
to 105 mm (4.1”) in diameter or 90
x 140 mm (3.5 x 5.5”) square. The
cut ting ca pac i ty is further in creased
to 125 mm (4.9”) di am e ter when
us ing Struers’ optional three-jaw
chuck.
Reliable and user-friendly
design
The cutting motor is located out side
the cutting chamber to pre vent any
contact with the cool ant. This en-
sures maximum re li a bil i ty of the mo-
tor and pro vides ad di tion al space
inside the cut ting cham ber.
Discotom-50’s Load meter on the
cutting motor is ac cu rate ly mon i -
tored on the 12-level LED-bar on
the control panel. The bar is di vid ed
into three areas, a green ar ea show-
ing that the load is ok, a yellow area
showing lev els close to overload
and the red area in di cat ing that the
motor is over load ed.
Cutting certain materials may pro-
duce both harmful and unpleasant
fumes. In line with our general rec-
om men da tion to install an exhaust
from the cutting chamber, the ma-
chine is prepared for direct con nec-
tion to an ex ter nal ex haust sys tem.
The fl ush hose and the cool ing
valve are placed on the front for
maximum convenience.
High safety standards
Discotom-50 complies with in ter -
na tion al safety stand ards and its
safe ty features include an emer-
gen cy stop and cut-off switches for
all ma chine functions and mo tor,
en sur ing a high level of safe ty for
the operator.
The cutting process cannot be
start ed until the impact resistant
pro tec tion guard has been closed
com plete ly. After the start button
has been pressed, the guard is
locked in stant ly. Should the guard
be forced open during the cutting
proc ess, the main motor will be
switched off im me di ate ly.
