Risk analysis
Risks posed by the device:
Injuries caused by squashing, scalding, grazes, burns.
Risk of falling caused by slippery working surfaces during
and after the use of the device.
Risks from short circuits and other electrical risks. Keep
electrical connections dry and clean. Do not clean electrical
components using water. Exclusively specialists must per-
form work on the electrical system.
Injuries caused by improper operation or operation by un-
instructed persons.
Attention:
High-pressure hoses with a short service life or repaired
high-pressure hoses are very dangerous. Burst or leaking
high-pressure hoses may cause injuries, in particular scal-
ding by highly pressurised, hot water.
Always remove the mains plug and disconnect the device
from the power supply prior to working on the on-demand
water heater.
Description and function of the safety features
Safety valve
The safety valve opens as soon as the maximum set ope-
rating pressure is exceeded by approximately 10%. Any
escaping water is routed to the outside.
Flow monitor
Switches the solenoid valve for fuel oil supply. If no water
is being drawn, the flow monitor opens the electrical cir-
cuit of the oil solenoid valve and the solenoid valve closes.
Safety temperature controller
Switches fan motor (burner) off in the event of impermissi-
ble overheating. The sensor is on the cold-water side upst-
ream of the combustion chamber.
Vapour develops within the heating coil if the burner is not
switched off when the gun is closed. It is drained using the
safety valve.
The safety temperature limiter switches off the fan mo-
tor (and consequently the heating system) if it detects a
temperature in excess of 53° C within the pipe between
heating coil and safety valve.
In the event of impermissible overheating of the heating
system, for instance caused by
a oil solenoid valve that no longer closes or any other fault
within the heating control chain, the safety thermostat
switches off the entire burner.
Fuel supply
Fill the fuel oil tank with fuel oil or diesel fuel and ensure
the refuelling containers are clean and do not contain any
other liquids. The oil pump will be damaged by water or
any other liquids within the fuel oil/diesel.
Unlocking the safety thermostat
Leave the Hot Box 240 until the heating system has com-
pletely cooled down (approximately 1 - 2 hours) following
overheating of the system. In any case, please be careful
when opening the high-pressure gun as hot, pressurised
vapour may still escape.
Undo the safety screws from the safety thermostat and
turn the screw below in anti-clockwise direction until you
hear a clicking noise or until the pointer of the safety ther-
mostat stops at the current ambient temperature.
The fuel pump may be damaged if it runs dry.
