General Description
The StorCase
®
Technology
InfoStation
®
intelligent expansion chassis is designed to
support the latest high-density, high-speed SCSI disk drive technologies for use in network
server, fault-tolerant and/or mission-critical applications. The InfoStation is designed to
support 3.5" form factor, half-height, and low profile (1" high) SCSI Single-Ended (S.E.) and
Ultra160 LVD/S.E. devices.
The InfoStation's dual backplane design can accommodate up to nine (9) single-connect SCA
SCSI devices (Figure 1). Each chassis is constructed of rugged steel, lightweight aluminum
and plastic, and is equipped with two (2) 400W redundant, hot swappable power supplies,
two (2) redundant, hot swappable blower modules and a User Interface module designed to
provide continual chassis data feedback and control of drive configurations.
The InfoStation SCSI backplane comes standard with one (1), two (2), or four (4) Ultra160
channel interfaces, or can easily be upgraded with optional interface/repeater kits to support
a total of up to four (4) Ultra160 channels. InfoStation can also be uniquely daisy-chained for
Ultra160 operation, supporting up to fifteen (15) devices per channel.
Another unique feature of the InfoStation is the InfoMon
®
external monitoring utility program.
InfoMon is a console utility that provides the InfoStation with an external monitoring capability
via a serial connection. The latest versions of the InfoMon utility program and User's Guide
can be downloaded (free of charge) from the StorCase website (http://www.storcase.com).
Contact StorCase for further information.
A conversion kit (which allow rack mount models to be converted to tower models), Ultra160
RAID controller modules, and a SAF-TE Processor Board are also available as InfoStation
upgrade options. Refer to Appendix B for further information on optional InfoStation
accessories.
