N Check the grease level regularly –
about every 25 hours of operation.
N Unscrew the filler plug (1). If no
grease can be seen on the inside of
the filler plug, screw the tube (2) of
STIHL gear lubricant for
brushcutters (special accessory)
into the filler hole.
N
Squeeze up to 5 g grease into the
gearbox.
N Remove the tube of grease (2).
N Refit the filler plug (1) and tighten it
down firmly.
N Check the film of lubricant after
about every 25 hours of operation.
N Press down the lever (1) on the
powerhead.
N Pull out the flexible shaft.
N Pull the shaft (2) out of the
protective tube (3) and note its
installed position.
N Coat the shaft with STIHL gear
lubricant for hedge trimmers
(special accessory). Do not apply
too much lubricant.
N Refit the flexible shaft (2) in the
protective tube (3) –
turn it 180°
from the original installed
position and push it home as far
as stop
.
N Push the flexible shaft fully into the
powerhead coupling (4) – turn the
shaft back and forth at the same
time.
Lubricating the Gearbox
Do not completely fill the gearbox
with grease.

If the shaft has turned blue, install
a new one.
