STEP 1. MOUNTING
WARNING!
Ceiling Trim Out - Case Clearance
Proper ceiling opening clearance must be maintained in order for the Cable Climber to operate
correctly Constricted openings will cause catastrphic operational failure and will void the warranty
Ceiling openings need to be at least the housing dimension plus 4 inches front to back and plus 6
inches for the width
Professional mounting techniques should be used. Stewart Filmscreen Corporation cannot be liable
for substandard or faulty installations.
INSTALLING THE UNIT
The Cable Climber mounting plate structure must be fastened to the ceiling with a minimum of 6
fasteners (Figure 2) Twelve candidate fastener positions are provided on the mounting plate assembly
Two fasteners are required at each end of the plate, and third pair of fasteners must be used, within 24
inches (60cm) of the center line of the mounting plate
Make a simple transfer layout template from heavy cardboard or 1/8” (3mm) plywood Tape the plywood
or cardboard to the mounting plate, and transfer the fastener locations and screen surface centerline
location to the template Elevate the template and use it to determine drilling and fastening locations on
the ceiling
Install and test the fastener systems prior to elevating the actual unit and mounting plate This will prevent
any drill tailings or debris from marring the appearance of the unit
Final cable leveling
The mounting plate must be installed in a level configuration If there is slight deviation, a final leveling of
the deployed unit can be accomplished by adjusting the cable terminations on the mounting plate The
case must be level at the deployed height Make sure that the mounting plate is not flexing before you
attempt to level the unit
Safety straps
A pair of safety straps and a pair of strap retrieval reels are attached to the mounting plate These straps
are designed to stow on the top of the unit, when the system is retracted The straps are designed to
bear the load of the system, if any part of the drive arrangement fails The minimum stowed position,
retracted height for the mounting plate, plus screen case is 25½inches (65cm)
