Fuselage Continued
52.
Select from the group of fuselage stringers (located on sheet 04/24) the two longer stringers
that measure 3/32 x 1/4 x 15-5/8 in. long. Fit one of each stringer to the outer slots in
right
and
left
of formers F34, F35, F36, and F37. The
front
end of the stringers should fit flush
with the
front
face of former F34. The
rear
end of the stringers will terminate
aft
of former
F37. Bond the stringers to each former with thin CA. Lightly press the
aft
end of the
stringers down until they no longer stand proud of the side stringers and the keel, then bond
these ends to the keel.
53.
Select the two remaining fuselage stringers (located on sheet 04/24), which should
measure 3/32 x 1/4 x 13-1/2 in. long. Fit these stringers to the
right
and
left
inner slots of
formers F34, F35, and F36. The front end of the stringers should fit flush against the
forward face of former F34. The rear end of the stringers should butt up against former F37
- adjust the length if necessary by lightly sanding one end. Bond the stringers to formers
F34, F35, and F36. Lightly press the aft end of the stringers down until the no longer stand
proud of the outer stringers and the central keel. Bond the ends of the stringers to former
F37.
54.
Fit part F47 to the
left
side of the fuselage, between the 3/16 in. square fuselage stringer
and the “F2” side rail of the central crutch. The forward edge should rest against the
outside edge of former F37. The aft edge will end flush with the aft edge of the keel F46.
The arrows on part F47 should be oriented to point
forward
and
up
, to ensure the correct
location of the pushrod exit slot. When you are satisfied with the fit, bond F47 to former
F37, the fuselage stringer, and the central crutch side rail.
Repeat the above instruction following the same installation process to fit and bond F48 on
the
right
side of the fuselage.
55.
Trim the fuselage stringer to length, flush with the end of the fuselage. Now, sand the area
around F47/F48 to a smooth finish.
56.
Locate the ply parts F49a and F49b. Fit the tabs of F49a into the slots in F49b, thus
creating the
rear
Hatch Catch. Bond with medium CA.
