Final Assembly
(continued)
60.
Feed the push rods out of the
bottom
of the radio compartment.
61.
Tape the ends of the push rods to prevent them from slipping through the push rod exit slots
at the
rear
of the fuselage.
62.
Finish covering the bottom of the fuselage.
63.
Refer to the
Push Rod Detai
l drawing on the plan set, and make a snake bend in each push
rod wire, where they will connect to the radio receiver.
64.
Connect the push rods to the
middle
hole on each servo tab on the receiver brick.
65.
Receiver:
Mount the receiver (PKZ3352, available from stevensaero.com) to the receiver
tray, by first engaging the
rear
edge of the circuit board into the notch in the short arm at the
rear
of the receiver clip. Gently press down on the receiver until the
front
edge of the circuit
board “snaps” into the notch on the long arm of the clip. If the receiver does not snap into
place, make sure that it is centered over the receiver tray, or that there is nothing keeping
the receiver from being fully seated in the clip. Ensure that the push rods run straight back
from the receiver.
66.
Motor:
Remove the spikes from the mounting tabs on the recommended motor (PKZ3624,
available from stevensaero.com). Make sure that the mounting tabs are completely smooth.
Sand if required.
If any part of the spikes remain, they may interfere with the fit of the
motor.
67.
Fit the motor to the motor mount plate, F7. Guide the motor lead through the opening in F4
below the mounting plate, and into the radio compartment. Ensure that the motor is fully
seated on the motor mount. Secure the motor with a small drop of medium CA under each
tab. Only use a small amount of glue. In the event of a crash, the motor should pop free of
the motor mount, with little or no damage to the model.
Using too much glue to mount
the motor may result in serious damage to the motor or propeller.
