When  assessing  vibration  exposure  to  determine  safety

measures required by 2002/44/EC to protect persons regularly

using  power  tools  in  employment,  an  estimation  of  vibration
exposure should consider, the actual conditions of use and the
way  the  tool  is  used,  including  taking  account  of  all  parts  of
the  operating  cycle  such  as  the  times  when  the  tool  is
switched  off  and  when  it  is  running  idle  in  addition  to  the
trigger time.

 Labels on tool

The  following  symbols  are  shown  on  the  tool  along  with  the
date code :

Warning!

To reduce the risk of injury, the user must

read the instruction manual.

Wear ear protectors. Exposure to noise can cause
hearing loss

Wear appropriate safety goggles with side shields

Wear appropriate dust mask

Risk  of  Fire.  Do  not  cover  ventilation  ducts.  Keep

flammable objects away

Risk of Electric Shock. Properly connect power cord
to appropriate outlet

 Electrical safety

This tool is double insulated; therefore no earth wire
is  required.  Always  check  that  the  power  supply
corresponds to the voltage on the rating plate.

•  If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the

manufacturer  or  an  authorised  STANLEY  Service  Centre
in order to avoid a hazard.

Using an extension cable

Always  use  an  approved  extension  cable  suitable  for  the
power  input  of  this  appliance  (see  technical  data).  The
extension cable must be suitable for outdoor use and marked
accordingly. Up to 30 m of 1.5 mm2 HO5VV-F extension cable
can be used without loss of product performance.
Before use, inspect the extension cable for signs of damage,
wear and ageing. Replace the extension cable if damaged or
defective. When using a cable reel, always unwind the cable
completely.

 Features

This tool includes some or all of the following features.
1.  Variable Speed trigger switch
2.  Blade clamp collar
3.  Pivot shoe
4.  Saw blade

 Assembly

Warning!

Before  attempting  any  of  the  following  operations,

make sure that the tool is switched off and unplugged and that
the saw blade has stopped. Used saw blades may be hot.

Fitting the saw blade (fig. B)

•  Hold the tool away from the body
•  Rotate the blade clamp collar collar (2) anti-clockwise.
•  Insert the shank of the blade (4) fully into the blade clamp

collar (2).

•  Release the blade blade clamp collar (2) to lock the blade

into position.

Note

The blade can be installed with the teeth up to assist in

flush cutting.

Removing the saw blade (fig. B)

Warning!

Burn  hazard:  Do  not  touch  the  blade  immediately

after use. Contact with the blade may result in personal injury.
•  Rotate the blade clamp collar (2) anti-clockwise.
•  Remove blade (4)

Adjusting the pivot shoe (fig. C, D)

The retracted blade length should be longer than the width of

the  workpiece.  If  the  blade  is  shorter,  the  tip  will  jam  in  the
workpiece  during  cutting,  possibly  causing  injury  and
damaging the blade or workpiece. To adjust the pivot shoe (3)

and the blade extension:

•  Loosen  both  cap  screws  on  the  underside  of  the  front

cover.

•  Adjust the pivot shoe (3) in or out as needed as shown in

figure D .

•  Tighten the cap screws. Do not over tighten.

Use

Warning!

Let the tool work at its own pace. Do not overload.

Warning!

Never use the tool when the pivot shoe is loose or

removed.

Switching on and off (fig. E)

The variable speed on/off switch offers a choice of speeds for

greatly improved cutting rates in various materials.

•  To switch the tool on, press the variable speed switch (1).

The speed depends on how far you depress the switch.

•  To switch the tool off, release the variable speed switch.

Sawing

•  Always hold the tool with both hands.
•  Let the blade run freely for a few seconds before starting

the cut.

•  Apply only a gentle pressure to the tool while performing

the cut.

•  If  possible,  work  with  the  pivot  shoe  plate  (3)  pressed

against  the  workpiece.  This  will  improve  tool  control  and
reduce  tool  vibration,  as  well  as  prevent  the  blade  from
being damaged.
