Simulation of Relay
The relay can be switched on and off independently of the displayed status of the clamp.
The relay is switched on when the "Simulation of Relay" field is activated. Activation of the
manual relay control is indicated on the device in the form of the green and red indicator
lamps switching on and off at intervals of 1 second.

8 Operation
8.1 Operation

For device operation, observe the information in the "Intended Use" and
"Parameterisation and Commissioning" chapters.
8.2 Description of Function
The main functions of the grounding monitoring device are:
• Inspecting and monitoring the connection to the grounding point of the system while a
clamp is connected.
• Inspecting and monitoring the grounding integrity between the object and the
filling/discharging point.
• Grounding the tank in order to discharge the static electricity via a defined resistance
(100 kΩ) to ground.
• Checking and monitoring that the clamp and the grounding monitoring device are correctly
connected to the object.
• Checking and monitoring that the loop resistance is less than 10 Ω while the road tanker
is grounded.
The bleeder resistance is monitored continuously during loading and the state of the
electrostatic grounding is signalled via a green and red indicator lamp as well as up to
4 potential-free contacts (change-over contacts). The contact can be used to monitor the
correct grounding and loading can be interrupted in case of incorrect grounding.
The grounding monitoring device checks the quality of the grounding connection and at the
same time it detects whether the grounding clamp has been fitted correctly to the road tanker
and is not accidentally fitted to the filling device. This automatically ensures that the system
works safely and improper use is ruled out.
The object is connected to the grounding monitoring device via a grounding clamp and an
electrical line no more than 20 m long.
The grounding monitoring device is set at the factory so that it works without additional
configuration in the vast majority of applications. If the detection of the impedance and
the bleeder resistance does not work despite the device being connected correctly, the
limiting values can be adapted to the local conditions using the configuration kit or the
Bluetooth interface, see chapter 7.1.
