The user panel for mode select with pushbutton, 7-segment display
and LEDs for input signal exists on rear and front panel. As well as
a PowerCon plug connector which is easily moveable from rear to
front panel. (the not used hole is covered by a black plate)
The SP218UXL still can in addition be retrofitted with a USB
hardware connection on the back. (see special instructions, DMX-
VIEW)
2. DMX512 signal processing and -distribution
During development of the SP218UXL the greatest value was
attached to an optimally fast signal processing and one almost
uninterruptable operation on all outputs in all modes.
All menus and adjustments can be viewed without influence on the
signal processing. Only after an express confirmation of a mode or
a parameter the signal processing is stopped and the new mode or
the parameters changed. If possible always after a complete frame.
All inputs and outputs using standardized and mounted RS485
driving circuits, with 120
Ω
termination and an extended ESD
protection. The inputs and outputs are isolated against each other
by optical coupling devices and DC/DC converters.
If the SP218UXL is without power supply, the input A / B is
hardwired connected to output 1 / 5. (+ data, - data, Ground) In this
case the input termination is off. This function is also available in
Power On state, now. (see chapter 5.3.1)

Important:
The DMX512 data are distributed with an optimal and
standard-compliant timing in all modes apart from
1
= [4.1] and
2
=
[4.3] (here depending from the input signal). If short dropouts or
flickering should appear, the lighting devices are possibly too slow
at the reception of the DMX512 data. (see chapter 7, RETIMER)
