Chapter 6.  Using the Serial Port Interface

49

Fibre Channel Configuration

The Fibre Configuration Menu (Figure 6-3) allows you to configure the Fibre Channel
port.

1.

To launch the Fibre Configuration Menu, select

2

 from the Configuration Menu.

To configure the Fibre Channel port, use the following options:

[1] Loop ID Type:

Toggles between hard and soft loop ID. If a hard loop ID is selected you

will be asked to provide a loop ID number. No loop ID number is needed for a
soft loop ID.

[2] Loop ID:

Only necessary with a hard loop ID.

[3] Connection:

Prompts for selection of Loop, Fabric or Auto for fibre connection mode.

[3] Initiator:

This option should be disabled, unless your environment is able to handle

multiple fibre initiators on the same loop. This option should be enabled for
Serverless Backup.

[?] Help:

Displays help for this menu.

[Esc] Return to Main Menu:

Returns you to the main menu.

Configuring Serverless Backup

Serverless Backup allows data to travel directly between a disk source and a tape
source. This method of backup relieves the backup server from the responsibility of
moving data.
