Powering On the Library
Caution:
Make sure all internal packaging is removed.
Power on the library and take note of the library’s initialization routine:
1.
The robotic picker moves along the length of the library, checking the DCMs
and tape drive(s) for data cartridges.
2.
The robotic picker records the cartridge locations in the library memory.
3.
The bar code scanner records any bar code information in the library memory.
4.
The picker parks at the bottom of the library in front of the drive(s).
5.
If the library does not initialize properly, see
Inserting Media
The simplest way to insert media into your library is to load the DCMs before installing
the DCMs in the library.
To do this, insert tapes one at a time into the individual slots in the DCM, with the clear
plastic window of the cartridges facing the top of the DCM.
Note:
Look inside the DCM for the numbers at the back (1-15); the slot
numbered 1 indicates the top end.
Installing the Data Cartridge Magazines
To install your first DCM, proceed as follows:
1.
Use the library door key to open the library door.
2.
Remove the DCM from its protective packaging.
