c) Selecting the video format
• First switch on the splitter, all TV sets/monitors and the playback device.
• You may select video mode by “Video“ key (7) on the splitter or three keys on the IR remote (17).
“4Kx2K”:
The playback device receives EDID information that 4K mode is enabled. Depending on the type of play-
back device, video playback occurs in 4K.
“HDMI OUT 4” does not support 4K mode.
“3D”:
The playback device receives EDID information that 3D mode is enabled. Depending on the type of play-
back device, video playback occurs in 3D.
“Pass”:
By evaluation of the EDID data of the connected TV sets/monitors, the splitter selects the resolution/colour
depth supported by all devices. Then it communicated the data to the playback device.
If for example, a 4K monitor, a 3D monitor and a conventional full-HD monitor is connected, the splitter
reports to the playback device in the form of EDID information about the presence of the full-HD monitor.
Now, the playback device should automatically play the movie in “normal” full-HD mode (rather than 3D or
4K, as these are not supported by every device).
If the playback device (e.g., a Blu-ray player) has no option of automatic playback resolution/
colour depth selection (or it is disabled), you have to set at the playback device the lowest pos-
sible resolution/colour depth supported by all connected TV sets/monitors.
Otherwise, it may happen so that no image would be displayed by the connected TV sets/
monitors.
Apparently, it also applies in the 3D mode or when 4K monitors are connected.
d) Selection of audio format
• First switch on the splitter, all TV sets/monitors and the playback device.
• You may select audio mode by “Audio“ key (6) on the splitter or three keys on the IR remote (16).
“2CH”:
The playback device receives EDID information that at the most 2-channel audio signal is possible. The
splitter sends an analogue stereo audio signal to both RCA jacks (13).
This function is impossible in the 4K mode.
“5.1CH”:
The playback device receives EDID information that at the most 5.1-channel audio signal is possible. The
splitter sends a digital audio signal to the TOSLINK jack.
In the 4K mode, this function is impossible.
“ADV”:
The splitter sends the best possible audio signal supported by connected devices (e.g., 7.1, if 7.1 amplifier
is also connected).
Troubleshooting
No picture on the monitor/TV set
• First check, whether the TV set/monitor is working properly when connected directly to the Blu-ray player
(without splitter).
• Then check the connection of the cable/plug between the splitter and the TV set/monitor or Blu-ray player.
Replace damaged cables.
• Use a high-quality HDMI cable. It applies particularly in 3D mode or with high resolutions (full-HD or 4K).
• Change the order of the connected monitors/TV sets at the splitter.
• The resolution (or colour depth) of the playback signal from the Blu-ray player is too high for example (on a
TV set/monitor, for example the message “Mode not supported” etc. (signal is not supported) will appear).
Select the “Pass” operation mode at the splitter (switch the splitter thereafter briefly off and on again).
In this operation mode, the splitter communicates to the Blu-ray player the lowest resolution supported by
all connected monitors/TV sets.
• The Blu-ray player is unable to switch automatically the resolution/colour depth communicated thereto by
the splitter (video format “4Kx2K” or “3D”) or a certain resolution/colour depth is fixed in the set-up menu
of the Blu-ray players.
In this case, activate the automatic mode of switching resolution/colour depth or choose the lowest pos-
sible resolution/colour depth in the set-up menu of the Blu-ray player.
• “HDMI OUT 4” does not support 4K mode.
• Switch on the TV set/monitor, the splitter and the Blu-ray player.
• Select the proper input at the TV set/monitor.
• If the Blu-ray player has various outputs, check in the set-up menu of the Blu-ray players, whether the
proper output is activated.
• To playback the copy-protected movies, the TV set/monitor should support HDCP standard.
Upon connection of a new monitor/TV set during operation, video loss occurs on the other monitor/
TV set (black image)
• If you connect another TV set/monitor during splitter operation with “Pass” video mode selected, the splitter
assesses the EDID information (e.g., resolution and colour depth).
If the resolution/colour depth is lower than that of the already available TV set/monitor, it is communicated
by the splitter to the Blu-ray player, which changes the resolution/colour depth if appropriate.
Brief video loss occurs during resolution/colour depth change.
No sound
• Select a different audio mode (if appropriate, switch the splitter thereafter briefly off and on).
• The TV set/monitor is connected via a DVI cable and an adapter. No sound signal is transferred through
DVI connection.
Always use an HDMI-compatible connection to connect a monitor/TV set.
If a TV set/monitor has an only DVI connection (and no HDMI), do not connect it as the first active device
in the “Pass” operation mode.
• To the splitter, a recording device is connected, which does not support HDCP. Disconnect this device from
the splitter and switch the splitter briefly off and on.
No 3D or 4K signal
• The playback device and the TV sets/monitors connected to the splitter should support the same video
format.
• Check, whether the playback device and monitors/TV sets support 3D or 4K signal and an appropriate movie
is played back. Check, whether the 3D function of the Blu-ray player is enabled.
• Use a high-quality HDMI cable.
• If the “Pass“ mode of the splitter is used and one of the monitors/TV sets does not support 3D (or 4K), 3D
(or 4K) playback is impossible.
Problems with detection of a new monitor/TV set
• Turn the splitter briefly off and on again.
• Select “Pass” mode and switch the splitter briefly off and on again.
• Check the cable connection between the splitter and the TV set/monitor.
• Use a high-quality HDMI cable. It applies particularly with high resolutions (3D or 4K).
Maintenance and Cleaning
The product does not require any maintenance and should never be disassembled for any reason. Any
maintenance or repair work may only be performed by an expert.
Prior to cleaning the device, pull the power adapter out of the mains socket.
Use a clean, dry, soft cloth for cleaning. Do not use aggressive cleaning agents, as these can cause discol-
ouration. Do not press too strongly on the surface when cleaning, to prevent scratch marks.
Dust can easily be removed using a clean, long-haired brush and a vacuum cleaner.
Disposal
a) General
Electrical and electronic devices must not be discarded with domestic waste!
Please dispose of the product at the end of its service life according to the current statutory
requirements.
Remove any battery that might be inserted and dispose of it separately from the product.
b) Batteries and rechargeable batteries
As the end user, you are required by law (Battery Regulation) to return used batteries. Do not dispose of
used batteries in the household waste!
Batteries/rechargeable batteries containing hazardous substances are labelled with these sym-
bols to indicate that the disposal of them in the household waste is forbidden. The symbols of the
critical heavy metals are: Cd=Cadmium, Hg=Mercury, Pb=Lead (name written on the battery/
rechargeable battery, e.g., under the rubbish bin symbol on the left).
You can return your used batteries/rechargeable batteries free of charge at the official collection points of
your community, in our stores, or at places where batteries or rechargeable batteries are sold.
You thereby fulfil your statutory obligations and contribute to the protection of the environment.
