Follow steps 1 to 4 of

then press SYSTEM MENU.
Be sure to use the original DV format tape and
the DVD-RW (VR mode) that corresponds to
the program in the DV Edit List.

and press ENTER.
The DV Edit menu appears.

”
and press ENTER.
The DV Edit List menu appears.
A disc mark will appear next to the program
that corresponds to the inserted disc. You can
only edit the programs that display a disc
mark.

Select the program you want to edit, and
press ENTER.
The sub-menu appears.
“DV Dubbing”: Starts Copy Dubbing the
program. Follow the instructions on page 78.
“Erase”: Erases the programme from the DV
Edit List.
“Edit”: Allows you to edit the program
contents (see below).
“Preview”*: Allows you to check the program
contents (see below).
“Make a Playlist”*: Creates a Playlist title of
the same contents. When asked, select “OK”
to enter the default name, or select “Enter” to
enter a new name (page 40).
“Rename”: Allows you to re-enter the
program name.
* These sub-menu items do not appear when the
program contains no scenes.

Select
“
Edit,
”
and press ENTER.
The Scene List menu appears with all of the
scenes the program contains. To add new
scenes, select “Add” and press ENTER. When
the display for selecting the IN point (start of
the scene) appears, follow steps 5 to 8 of
“Program Edit” (page 74).
• If the program contains no scenes, the
display asks whether to generate scenes
within the program automatically or
manually. Follow steps 5 to 6 of “Advanced
Program Edit” (page 76).

Select the scene you want to edit, and
press ENTER.
The sub-menu appears. Select an option and
edit the scene.
“Move”: Changes the scene order. Follow the
explanations on the screen to change the
order.
“Erase”: Erases the scene. When asked for
confirmation, select “OK.”
“Preview”: Plays the selected scene.
“Change IN”: Changes the start of the scene.
See step 6 of “Program Edit” for details
(page 74).
“Change OUT”: Changes the end of the scene.
See step 7 of “Program Edit” for details
(page 74).

When you finish editing the Scene List,
select
“
OK,
”
and press ENTER.
The program is saved in the DV Edit List.
Once you edit a program, the original program
will be erased.
• If you select “Quit” after making changes in
step 6, the display asks whether to save the
program.
Notes
• You cannot set a scene to be shorter than one second.
• You can select the “Edit,” “Preview,” or “Make a
Playlist” options only when the corresponding DVD-
RW (VR mode) is in the recorder and the disc has not
been edited.
• A program can contain up to 50 scenes (chapters). If the
recorder divides a program and the number of scenes
reaches 49, the rest of the program becomes one scene.

Settings and Adjustments
Using the Setup Displays
By using the Setup Displays, you can make
various adjustments to items such as picture and
sound, as well as select a language for the
subtitles.
The Setup Displays are used in the following way.
Note
Playback settings stored in the disc take priority over the
Setup Display settings, and not all of the functions
described may work.
Press SYSTEM MENU while the recorder is
in stop mode.

Aerial Reception and
Language Settings
(Settings)
The Settings Setup helps you to make tuner, clock,
and channel settings for the recorder.
Select “Settings” in the Setup Display. To use the
display, see “Using the Setup Displays” (page 82).
Channel Setting
Presets channels manually.
If some channels could not be set using the Easy
Setup function, you can set them manually.
If there is no sound or if the picture is distorted, the
wrong tuner system may have been preset during
Easy Setup. Set the correct tuner system manually
in the steps below.
