Notes
• The disc may not be recorded as programmed if the
tape’s time code is not sequential or there are blanks
between the recordings on the tape. In this case, see
“Recording From Connected Equipment Without a
Timer” (page 51).
• The start and end points of a program may be different
from what you have set if the source DV format tape is
in any of the following conditions:
– Recording mode was changed during the recording.
– There is a blank space in the recorded portion of the
tape.
• If you set the beginning of the tape as the IN point and
the end point as the OUT point, the IN and OUT points
may change slightly during dubbing.
• You cannot set a scene to be shorter than one second.
Advanced Program Edit
By using an additional DVD-RW (VR mode) disc,
you can quickly edit contents of a DV format tape,
and dub the edited contents to another disc.
To use this function, you will do the following:

Taking advantage of the disc’s quick accessibility,
select the scenes you want from the recorded
DVD-RW (VR mode). You do not have to fast
forward or rewind the tape as explained in
“Program Edit” (page 74). You can also reset,
erase, or change the order of the scenes.

After you have selected the scenes, you can dub
the selected scenes to another disc of your choice.
Connect your digital video camera and
prepare for recording
Record the entire contents of the DV
tape to a DVD-RW (VR mode)
Select and edit the scenes you want to dub

How chapters are created
The dubbed contents on the disc become one title,
and the title is divided into chapters. For a DVD-
RW (VR mode), every shooting on the tape and
each selected scene becomes a chapter on the disc
(Auto Scene Chaptering function). You can also
choose to manually divide the title.

Follow steps 1 to 6 of

and press SYSTEM MENU.
Insert a DVD-RW (VR mode) into the
recorder.
Make sure that the disc has enough free space
to record the contents of your tape.

The DV Edit menu appears.

The display asks if you want to start dubbing.
To change the dubbing mode, select “Dub

recorder until the display for entering the title
name appears. To enter a new name, select

The display asks if you want to create scenes
(chapters) within the generated program
automatically or manually. To use the Auto
Scene Chaptering function, select “Auto.”

the scene) appears, and the scene starts to play
in the background. Follow steps 5 to 8 of
“Program Edit” (page 74) to create and edit
scenes in the program.

When you finish editing the Scene List,

The edited program is saved in the DV Edit
List.

Select the program from the DV Edit List,
and start dubbing the program contents to
another disc.

asks if you want to record halfway. To

Re-editing the “program” in the DV
Edit List
You can make changes to the programs in the DV
Edit List if they were created by One Touch
Dubbing or Advanced Program Edit on a DVD-
RW (VR mode). You can reset, erase, or change
the order of the scenes.
To use this function, you will do the following:
