5-1-8. RS232C setting
After completing the settings in 5-1-7, press the Axis selector key again to select the setting mode
for the RS232C.
Note
The RS232C only sets the first axis.
Data processing capability (output data when R command is received)
Computer transmission mode : Up to approx. 5.5 data/sec.
Printer mode
: Up to approx. 7.6 data/sec.
(These values apply when the transmission settings are 9600 bps, no parity, 1 stop bit, and
data length of 8 bits.)
Communication mode setting
•
Printer mode is the mode for our company’s P30 printer (discontinued) and P40 printer. In this
mode, the output data format is converted to a data format for statistical processing by the
printer. (See the next page.)
The output data is for the X-axis only. In the P30 printer, a delay time is needed for
communication. Set the delay time setting to ON. The communication speed, parity, and other
settings are made automatically. (Communication speed: 2400 dps, no parity, stop bits: 1, data
length: 8) In the P40 printer, no delay time is needed for communication. Therefore, set the
delay time setting to OFF. Also, program input/output is not possible in printer mode. If program
input/output is to be performed, COMP mode should be set.

If there is no delay time in COMP mode or printer mode, the following communications speed
and other settings must be made.

The following settings cannot be made when there is a delay time in printer mode. The unit
returns to the initial setting item (setting resolution).
