3-6-5. System Shutdown and reboot
3-6-4. Backup and restore to/from
Tape and Cache Server
Displays Description Probable Cause/Countermeasure
If the system can not be shutdown or
rebooted?
If an error occures
* When the PetaServe won’t stop,
1. Try shutting it down by the Webmin
repeatedly.
2. Open a telnet window and kill the running
processes, if necessary.
(For more details, refer to System Shutdown
and reboot of appendix.)
3. If all the steps above are unsuccessful, reboot
the Main Server.
* When the Main Server (OS) can not be shut
down,
1. Unmount the Cache Server manually and try
shutdown again.
2. If still unsuccessful, connect a terminal display
and check the console messages.
3. If still unsuccessful, reboot the Main Server
forcibly.
* When the Main Server (OS) wonÅft start up,
1. Check the console messages by connecting a
terminal display.
2. Check the SCSI connection and reboot the
Library, then reboot the Server later.
* When the PetaServe service won’t start,
1. Restart the PetaServe.
2. Check the Library connection and reboot the
Library and the Server.
3. Wait 10 minutes or so for “dbaudit” to get
finished.
4. If still unsuccessful, reboot the Main Server.
5. If all the steps above failed, get the Log data
and send it to WW service.
1. Check the SCSI connection.
2. Check the error message and find an
appropriate action.
