   Trouble 

Cause

   Jack does not lift 

Release valve is open 

Turn the valve clockwise tightly

 

 

Low/no hydraulic oil in reservoir 

Refill the jack to the correct level of oil

 

 

Air locked system 

Bleed the system

 

 

Load is above capacity of jack 

Use correct equipment

   Jack lifts only partially 

Too much or not enough hydraulic oil  Check hydraulic oil level

   Jack advances slowly 

Pump not working correctly 

Rework pump

 

 

Leaking seals 

Replace seals

   Jack lifts load,  

Release valve not working correctly 

Inspect valves, replace it if necessary

   but doesn’t hold 

 

   Jack leaks hydraulic oil 

Worn or damaged seals 

Replace seals

   Jack will not retract 

Release valve is closed 

Open the discharge valve by turning 

 

 

 

the sleeve counter clockwise

   Jack retracts slowly 

Return spring is damaged 

Replace return spring
