10.2.1 Cisco Switch Configuration
1. Connect one switch to an Ethernet port on a PC with an IP address on the 192.168.1.xxx
subnet.
2. Open a web browser and connect to http://192.168.1.254
3. Log on to the switch with username: admin, no password.
4. Navigate to System->System Settings , change the IP address, add a password (if desired),
and press Save Settings .
5. Power cycle the switch, change the IP address of the Ethernet port on the PC to be on the
same subnet as the switch’s new IP address, and log back on to the switch management
interface.
6. Navigate to Port->Port Settings . Turn on Flow Control if desired. Do not fix the Mode of
Ports 1 and 2, the aggregated ports, to 100BASE-T. Unless these 2 PORTS are allowed
to autonegotiate with the switch in the LM IDU (Mode: Auto Speed), link aggregation
will not work! See Figure 10-2
