Start up and driving
Self-test function
ABS contains electronic sensors, electric pumps, hydraulic
solenoid valves and processors. The processor has a self-test
function that tests the system each time the engine is started
and when the vehicle moves at low speed forward or backward.
When performing a self-test, you may hear dull “metal” noise or
feel the pulse of the brake pedal. This is a normal phenomenon
and does not indicate any malfunction. If the processor detects
any fault, it turns off the ABS system and lights the ABS brake
warning indicator on the instrument panel. At this point, the
brake system can work, but with no anti-lock function.
If the ABS fault indicator lights, please drive as soon as possible
to a DFSK authorised service outlet.
Normal operation
The ABS system will come into operation when the vehicle
speed exceeds 15km /h, the speed will change according to
different road conditions.
When the ABS detects that one or more wheels are close to
locking, the actuator will quickly work to relieve pressure. This
action is similar to a quick release brake. When the ABS brakes,
you can feel the pulse of the brake pedal, and hear from the
engine an abnormal sound or feel the vibration of the actuator.
This is normal and indicates normal operation of the ABS.
Braking force distribution system (EBD)
The electronic brake force distribution system is a complement
to the ABS system. Generally speaking, EBD’s role is similar to
the non-ABS vehicle’s load-sensing proportional valve (more
sensitive than the load-sensing valve).
Self-test function
Each time the engine is started and the vehicle moves slowly
forward or backward, the EBD will also self-test as ABS. If the
processor detects any fault, it shuts down the EBD system
and causes the EBD fault indicator on the instrument panel to
illuminate. If the EBD fault indicator lights during self-test or
driving, please drive the vehicle to a DFSK authorised service
centre as soon as possible.
!
Warning
If the both the ABS and EBD fault lights show at the same time
during self-test or running, decelerate slowly according to the
road condition until the car is safely stopped and immediately
contact a DFSK authorised service outlet.
Driving in cold weather
!
Warning
• Drive carefully taking due regard of the road conditions.
Both acceleration and deceleration must be done carefully.
If the acceleration or deceleration is too sudden, the driving
wheels will be more likely to brake traction.
