GSR1700 CSX Operations Manual

Chapter 4: System Setup

Setting up the GSR1700 CSX is a straightforward process, 
whether you are in the field or the office. This chapter 
summarizes typical receiver operations, as well as system setup 
for both field and office operations.

4.1

Setup Overview

The following list outlines the general sequence of operations 
when using the receiver:

1.

Supply power to the receiver, using a charged internal 
battery or a connection to an external power supply. See 
Chapter 5, 

Power Management

, page 44, for more details 

about supplying power.

2.

Press the power button. The receiver will turn on, acquire 
and track satellites, and issue a “Receiver Ready” message or 
sound when it completes the initialization. Typically, the 
receiver will then operate based on the POWERUP 
configuration. See Section 6.3, 

Use the POWERUP 

Configuration

, page 50, for more information about 

POWERUP configurations.

If you plan to use a data collector to configure the receiver or 
control the survey, connect it to the receiver. A data collector 
is not always necessary (for example, if you are using the 
receiver in a static survey).
