Introduction
With the release of 7.4 Pro42 software, a new Single Bar calibration feature is now available. This new Cali-
bration procedure will execute TID, RTP, and apply Total Toe and Camber offsets to maximize accuracy. This
single bar calibration is applicable to all X-CEL (UHR) Imaging Aligners with 7.4 and up software. Technicians
are encouraged to use this new Calibration procedure any time Targets and/or Wheel Clamps are replaced or
dropped in the field. Before, when a TID calibration was performed, the factory offset calibration for Total Toe
and Camber would be lost. Now with this new procedure you can calibrate in these valuable offsets to maxi-
mize accuracy.
Customers can still execute a TID calibration using a “Jacked Vehicle” if needed, however if a technician is
called to perform a TID procedure on an older unit it is recommended he/she use the cal bar and paddles to
perform TID instead of a vehicle’s tire and wheel assembly. Never at any time would a technician want to per-
form this new Single Bar Calibration, and then follow it with the TID calibration using a “Jacked Vehicle”. Doing
so will delete the offsets for Total Toe and Camber. The alignment system must have a valid RCP calibration
prior to performing Single Bar calibration. If you have reason to believe the RCP is wrong, do an RCP calibra-
tion before the Single Bar Calibration. The RCP procedure has not changed and will still require the previous
RCP fixture. Always backup any calibration data to a flash drive prior to replacing calibration data.
Select “Preferences” from the main carousel, then “System configuration” and insure correct clamps and tar
-
gets are selected. The calibration bar and Adapter is the standard Calibration Bar and Stands that have been
used on past aligners. A new Paddle kit must be secured to the existing Calibration bar (see illustration below).
1. Clean all targets with soft lint free rag and glass cleaner.
2. Place the Calibration bar and stands on the rack
in front of the
turnplates
. The bar and stands CAN NOT move during this pro-
cedure.
3. Place the Calibration paddles on the calibration bar and mount the
selected targets.
4. Using the Camera View rotate the calibration bar with the targets
in view of the camera to ensure that the targets can be seen at all
times during the rotation process. You do not want to move the
camera beam up or down during this process to acquire target im-
ages. Do this before beginning the single bar calibration process.
This bar and target assembly will be moved to the rear of the rack
during the calibration process, make note that the targets must be
in the camera field of view at the rear also before beginning.
