Section 6 – Additional Procedures

Fold the guardrail

6.7   Fold the guardrail

When folded down, the guardrail system decreases
the total height of the retracted MEWP for transport.

 WARNING

Fall hazard. To prevent a fall, keep away from the
sides of the platform when you fold or unfold the
guardrails. If you do not obey, there is a risk of
death or serious injury.

with lanyard

:

 Use this pin to

lock the guardrails.

 WARNING

Fall hazard. Fully lower the platform before you
fold or unfold the guardrails. If you do not obey,
there is a risk of death or serious injury.

 WARNING

Before you operate this MEWP, make sure that
the guardrail system does not have loose or
missing lock-pins. The guardrail system must be
in the vertical position. Lock all pins correctly. An
incorrectly locked guardrail can cause a fall, which
can result in death or serious injury.

6.7-1  Fold the guardrail system down

1.

Make sure the MEWP is on firm, level ground.

2.

Make sure you fully lower the platform.

3.

Push the

emergency-stop

 button on the base

control console.

4.

Turn the

main power disconnect

switch to the

off position.

 WARNING

Fall Hazard. Use the three points of contact
principle when you use the MEWP ladder to enter
or exit the platform. If you do not obey, there is a
risk of death or serious injury.

5.

Use the MEWP ladder to enter the platform.

6.

Close the gate.

7.

Make sure you fully retract the extension
platform(s).

 CAUTION

Install each lock-pin correctly with the detent
ball of each lock-pin fully through the bracket or
railing clamp. If you do not obey, there is a risk of
machine damage

8.

Remove the

lock-pins

from the control console

mounting bracket

2

. Put the
