Start

Notes on starting

DANGER

Danger of poisoning by exhaust gases!

Do not run the combustion engine in an enclosed

space.

Operating conditions

The vehicle key is located in the vehicle interior.

NOTICE

Risk of key loss, possibly of key damage!

The system can detect the key even if it has been

forgotten on the vehicle roof.

Always keep the key with you.

Switching the ignition on and off

Press the starter button.

Start the vehicle

Secure the vehicle with the parking brake.

Keep the brake pedal depressed.

Press the starter button.

At temperatures above approx. -10°C and with a

sufficient state of charge of the high-voltage battery,

only the electric motor will start up after starting.

The start of the electric motor is displayed as fol-

lows.

At the same time, an audible signal is emitted.

In the instrument cluster display READY is displayed

in the status bar.

NOTICE

With extremely low outdoor temperatures, the tem-

perature of the high-voltage battery may drop so

low that it may no longer be possible to start the en-

gine.

Starting the engine again is only possible when the

temperature of the high-voltage battery has risen

sufficiently.

Stopping the engine

Secure the vehicle with the parking brake.

Press the starter button.

WARNING

Steering lock hazard!

During a journey with the engine stopped, the igni-

tion must always be switched on.

Starting issues

Troubleshooting

NOTICE

Danger of engine damage!

Do not start the vehicle by towing.

The engine does not start

Switch off the ignition.

Wait 30 seconds and repeat the starting proce-

dure.

If the engine does not start, use the jump start ca-

bles with the 12 volt vehicle battery of another ve-

hicle

 or seek the help of a specialist ga-

rage.

The engine does not start, the display shows a

message regarding the immobilizer

Use the other vehicle key.

If the engine does not start, seek the help of a spe-

cialist garage.

Starting is not possible with the starter button, the

system did not detect the key

illuminates

Insert the key into the cup holder at the front.

Press the starter button.

If the engine does not start, seek the help of a spe-

cialist garage.

The key might not be detected if the battery in

the key is nearly discharged or the signal is faulty.

The engine cannot be turned off with the starter

button

Hold the starter button or press twice.

The radiator fan keeps running even after the en-

gine has stopped

The radiator fan can continue to run for approxi-

mately 10 minutes after the engine is stopped. This is

not a defect.

The combustion engine makes noises after the

cold start

The increased running noise is due to the briefly in-

creased engine speed. This is not a defect.

Automatic gearbox

Automatic gearbox modes

Select automatic gearbox mode

To change the automatic gearbox mode, move the

selector lever forwards or backwards.
The selector lever then returns to the starting po-

sition.
